My Laptop cant recognise any USB

Greetings to all. i have a problem. My win Xp laptop cant read any USB stick that i try to plug in. I have 6 slots in total and none works . I tryed several USB sticks and always the same:


the system says The disk in drive E: is not formatted. do you want to format it now

and the device manager says that there is nothing wrong with my USB slots no yellow triangles no exclamation marks nothing.


please help.

yes.. i tryed them on desktop comp

Well, then it sounds like your USB controller is disabled or broken.

1) Has any USB device ever worked on that machine? There's a difference between never worked and stopped working.
2) Are you familiar with BIOS to check whether the USB controller is disabled or in some odd mode?
3) Is the machine still in warranty?
