Hi everyone I dropped my laptop and im assuming i corrupted my harddrive. It boots fine the first error message i got was "No Bootable Device" so i changed the BIOS boot settings and after i did that.. it either stays on the acer boot screen or boots into repair mode.. I did everything to restore it.. but it just wont get pass the restore option it keeps freezing. so i ordered a Recovery Usb media drive. And it still dont work. the usb boots and everything but it takes me to a blue screen then says everything will be erased i click okay and it freezes.. im thinking the harddrive is corrupt? anyways to the question.. I want to buy a new harddrive.. if i do so can i just put the usb recovery media disk in and restore everything on the new harddrive?

....I dropped my laptop and im assuming i corrupted my harddrive....
Your assumption is correct. That drive is now nothing more than a refrigerator magnet donor. Replace the drive and restore from the factory media, then restore your data from your latest backup.
okay.. So would I need to buy windows 8.1 again? Or is that what the Recovery Media is?(Acer Send me it) I just dont wanna buy a new harddrive and find out that I need to buy windows 8.1 all over again just to get it working. Id rather send it to acer to fix if its that complicated because i already spend 60 on the usb recovery media

Hi I got a new harddrive and installed it.. but when I put in the recovery Usb it boots to a blue screen and tells pops up a error message saying everything on my harddisk will be wiped and gives me the option,OK or cancel then i click ok and it brings me to a blue screen with littlr box with words in it and freezes at Export Install.wim or Copy*.swm.... Am i doing this right?
