My Laptop HDD copy speed really slow?

I took 2 HDD from my death laptop to use on my Desktop but the problem is copy speed is really slow.
1st HDD is SAMSUNG HM320II & 2nd is WDC WD2500BEVS. The WDC copy a bit faster than Samsung but still slower.

The HDD doesn't damage and I don't even press them hard so they're in a good condition.

I did reformat Samsung and left WDC some old file.

What did I miss?

How do you know the HDD's are not damaged? Laptop HDD's are very prone to failure due to vibrations and accidental drops of the laptop. I would advise running something like https://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download/standard and checking up the health tab, pay attention to the "Real Value":

1) Reallocated Sector Count
2) Seek Error Rate
3) Current Pending Sector Count
4) Uncorrectable Sector Count

If any of the above is over 20 then your HDD is not good anymore which is causing the slow transfer speed.

Hi there GTHell,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(

My suggestion would be to back up the most important data stored on both drives, until you sort this out.
Then you can run both short and extended DLG tests on your WD Blue: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=c6tESb
For your other drive, you can use some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

It would be nice if you can post some screenshots of the SMART reports.

Have you tried to transfer just a big, single file instead of many small ones? In case you haven't, you can do so.

Apart from that, you can:
- Go to your MOBO's website and update drivers.
- Run disk check on both drives.
- Try using different cables and SATA ports.

Let me know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)

I didn't use the defraggler yet because I'm backing up the file. By the way the WDC Tool didn't detect its own HDD but it detect my current HDD and Samsung HDD which is ood. They booth passed on SMART.

EDIT:
Oh the WDC just shown up and it's also passed the SMART monitor. I will run the test on 2 HDD after I back up all the file.
