my laptop is not detecting any wireless netwoks,i am using dell inspiron with os unbuntu 12.04....pls help

Probably you have not installed the wireless drivers in Ubuntu 12.04. Insert a ethernet cable and check whether you are able to access internet.

yes am able to access internet through ethernet cable. earlier i had problem with wired connection but there was no such problem with the wireless connection
