I have a asus Q301LA laptop. some of my laptop keys are typing wrong symbols. For example, when i press p it types * and when i press 0 it types and when i press ; it types - but when I press the same keys by holding function key along with it it types the correct letter. It types correctly when i connect external keyboard or type using onscreen keyboard. Please help me.

Laptops don't have the typical number pad keypad to the right side of the keyboard, so they usually have one included that is within the normal keyboard layout. Usually there is a "Num Lock" key somewhere, but after doing some research about your particular issue, it seems that Asus did not include the full "10 key number pad" but left the hidden functionality for the 0 p ; / row of keys. The good news is I did find a couple of solutions:

This drive me crazy too but simple fix if you still need it.
Go to run, I believe it's windows plus "r"
type osk for on screen keyboard
num lock will be on (if num lock is not there, click on options and you should find an option for num lock, click it and this will give you the full number pad)...
Your function key is locked - similar to how you would be typing in all caps if you pressed the Caps Lock key. As suggested, have a look in the manual or simply google your laptop model number to find out the key combination to unlock it.

Click it and u will be fine
it happens to me every time I remove the wireless keyboard

Or:

plug in a USB keyboard and turn numlock off

If you've used an external keyboard in the past that's likely where your issue came from. It's silly of Asus to include some of the functionality with no way to turn it off once you accidentally enable it, but the good news is it's a simple fix once you figure out what the heck is going on, lol.
