my laptop says my drivers are up to date but i still cant play a dvd

hello my laptop is quite old its windows vista home premium my problem is that everytime i try to play a dvd it wunt play and when i go to my computer and dvd drive E and open it it says insert a disk.but i can play audio cds fine anyone no whats up thanks

Are you trying to play DVD movies?
If so Your drive may be region locked to specific region DVDs.

Do Data DVDs work?

How to change DVD region on a Windows (Windows 8 compatible) PC
1. Open "My Computer" and right click on the DVD drive icon. Choose "Properties" from the drop down menu.
2. Select the "Hardware" tab and choose the DVD drive from the disk drives list. Then click "Properties".
3. Go to "DVD Region" tab and choose the geographic area you want. Then click "OK" to finish the DVD region changing.
