My laptop suddenly shut down

Hey guys, My laptop shut down suddenly while I was doing some work , it was connected to electricity though.

Can you restart it at all, and how far does it get?

I was writing an email , then all of a sudden it turned off, and I've been trying to turn it on for 20 mins, and it's just dead , with no reaction.
