Question My laptop suddenly turned slow, 100% CPU usage

Hi!

This evening my MSI GL72 6QD laptop, got really, really slow out of nowhere. Entering task manager, I soon found out why. CPU usage was close to 100%. Even when not operating any program, it will spike to 100% for short periods of time. Any program I open will cause it to go straight to 100% (or close).

It also seems to be more memory usage than usual.

It sounds like the fan is working overtime as well.

I have tried scanning for malware and viruses (Bitdefender and Windows defender offline scan). The scans found nothing.

So I then turn here for advice - what could be the problem? Is my entire laptop dying? Why? What can I do?

I can't seem to replicate it the disk usage..

What process is using the CPU is varies second by second, it seems. Basically if I do ANYTHING, it will spike a lot. Play a YouTube video? 100%. For brief periods of time, different Windows services have been using a lot of CPU.
