As said in the title my MSI GS70 laptop uses about 50% of the RAM when in idle, I rebooted it and its still at 50% with no programs open. System Specs: I7-6700HQ, 16GB DDR4, GTX 970M
What you're seeing is the effect of caching. Windows is trying to use RAM to cache things in an attempt to reduce accessing the hard disk. The net effect of this can be a performance boost, but Windows will free up space from the cache if needed. This is normal operation.
