So, I am using a 5 - 6 year old Lenovo S340 laptop.

Lately after Windows 11 upgrade my wifi starting to experience trouble.
1st I cannot connect to 5ghz therefore I bough the dongle. But even with the dongle the speed is somehow quite slow to the point I cannot fast forward Netflix because its loading.

At the same time using speed test I got 190mbps on my mobile phone (realme 9pro+, mid level phone, 3-4 years old type), but on laptop only 5 to 10mbps.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Here's the data from the network adapters (Ps: I dont know if this is also because my ram need upgrade or not).

Thanks

How did you test your mobile phone? It looks like the test results were from same Windows laptop with 2 wifi adapters, not one from laptop and one from mobile phone.

Network speed has nothing to do with ram.

i just google speedtest on my mobile phone and run it, the same with laptop, it looks the same because i cropped & make it almost the same size so it would be easier to compare.

And i turn off network card since I cannot connect to 5ghz and only use the dongle for this test

Both wifi adapters should be capable of more.
The Mobile phones Qualcomm chip supports 802.11 ac and is the better choice

1st I cannot connect to 5ghz therefore I bought the dongle.
That would be a third connection option ( dongle ) that isn´t listed.
The internal wifi card ( picture 2 and 4?) is more capable than 11 Mbps , if i look at the info you´ve sent.

If the first picture shows your phone and the third photo (WiFi 3) also is your phone ( Qualcomm ) , it is only faster in theory, because of 802.11ac.

Your data doesn´t show which wireless networking standard you used for the laptop.
Maybe you could speed it up by using a different standard

No, actually 1st & 2nd picture only shows test result using mobile & laptop, but my mistake for not explaining it well.

However the data on pic 3rd and 4th is actually my laptop network card, which you are correct that there is actually I more dongle that I didnt show because I have returned it since it cannot pick up 5ghz (but I do have the data also)

So this is the full image data.

Wifi 1 network card Atheros QCA9377 cannot even detect 5ghz
Wifi 2 dongle Ralink, also cannot connect to 5ghz thus i returned it
Wifi 3 Mediatek, connected to 5ghz
I do not connect to 2.4ghz wifi because the signal barely 1 bar

So on 1st pic just google speed test on my phone i got 190mbps
on 2nd pic the same just google speed test i only got 5mbps

Picture 4 is a dongle, here is the picture

btw what kind of data / test should i do more to see specific problems or data needed? and can you please direct me to how to get that data?

Thanks

Both show Windows screenshots

Sorry my mistake.
Actually these 2 are the data for wifi network adapter.
1 is from Atheros internal network card which cannot pick up 5ghz, the other 1 is from Mediatek dongle.

I dont know how to get this kind of data from my mobile

Then why not just keep the good one and discard the bad one? You are confusing everyone here. It has nothing to do your mobile. Your mobile speed is determined by your mobile chip, wireless provider and tower signal , not your router.

But it has sir. Maybe because english is not my first language I failed to explain it better, because like i said on my mobile i get 190mbps, why on my laptop i only got 5mbps when connected to same network?

imagine you can watch netflix on your mobile without problem then you want to watch it on bigger screen such as your laptop but its always buffering.

And I dont know whats wrong with my laptop internal network card since before the upgrade i can connect to 5ghz now I cannot.
Even when I am using external network card connected to 5ghz my laptop still struggling only get 5mbps.

I hope my explanation now make more sense

You don't keep 2 adapters connected at the same time. Windows will be confused, disable all and only keep one active.
I have never turn both on, I always use the mediatek since for me mediatek is the better one, the one tested here just to show you the difference, even I consider it lucky to get 2 bar on QC network card

And again sorry if I make you confused,
but my mobile is connected to the wifi without data plan while i am home, im guessing its has something to do with the router (or network card), therefore I am wondering why laptop & mobile connected to the same router but big result gap in speed

And again the question is not why dont i keep the good one here,
but more why I can get 190mbps on my phone connected to the same router wifi, but on my laptop i get only 30 with mediatek which is considered not as good as QC, and even with QC even lower, while previously on windows 10 I didnt have problem

Meaning is there something wrong?
how to check and how to fix it

Thanks

I sum it up quickly:

Options:
Qualcomm (Atheros) or Mediatek
Qualcomm is internal card
Mediatek ist USB dongle

All results are bad!!!
Qualcomm is a bit better, but not a lot.

Goal:
same speed as via phone minimum
( Maximum probably 300 Mbps?)

Problem:
Connection between Laptop and Router

My Questions:
When you turn off 2.4 GHz at the Router ( settings), does the Connection speed increase on your Laptop ( via 5 GHz of course )?
Do you have Software for the Mediatek dongle or just drivers?

The WiFi Card should be faster, as i already mentioned. Qualcomm card Supports 802.11ac. The dongle is a bit better now, but theoretically, 802.11ac would be faster

@rronald_25

To follow along with the ideas and suggestions provided by @cruisetung:

On the laptop run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt. Post the full results.

(You should be able to copy and paste the full results without needing to retype everything.)

Then do the same for some other network device (not the mobile) on your network.

Be sure to identify which result is the laptop and which result is that other device.

When the dongle/wireless network card is connected to the laptop does the wireless network card get warm or even hot?

Also try using another known working (at speed) USB cable to connect the dongle/wireless network card to the laptop and, for testing purposed, to another network device.
