My laptop will not start up or shutdown

Hello,
WE have just got a new laptop windows 8 and it is showing a blue screen with
Your Pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. Were just collecting some info error info, and then we'll restart for you. ( 100% complet)
If youd like to know more you can search online later for this error. Bad Pool Caller
It has been like this for over an hour, It will not shutdown start up no matter what buttons we press. Can I take the batteries out!!

Unplug your machine from its power source and remove the battery then reinsert battery and power source. I have done this many times.

It can't shut down if it won't "start", as in boot into windows. He probly means it keeps looping the same error, this happened to me when I installed win8 on my PC. A BIOS update stopped it. If you just bought it, I would say go get it exchanged
