My laptop won't play a 3D Blu-ray disc, doesn't even recognize it. Why?

I have a laptop equipped with a blu-ray player. A friend gave me 3D blu-ray movie and my pc won't play it. When I open my "My Computer", I can't see it in DVD compartment, which means it doesn't even see it. Why? I am not a computer specialist. Thank you.

Could you please pass on your laptop's make and model number? It could be possible that you will require a 3rd party media player to play your media's as Microsoft announced their intentions in Windows 10 to drop Windows Media Center support.
