Hello,

I am facing an odd issue with my XPG Gammix S70 blade ssd (1 TB).
About a week ago I built a new PC with the following main specs:
- Asus B550 Prime Plus motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600 cpu
- Crucial DDR4 Pro 32 GB
- Asus RX6600 GPU
- XPG Gammix S70 blade ms ssd (1 TB)
- Be quiet System power 9 - 500 W PSU

Everything worked perfect, I was very happy with the system until today, when I switched the XPG ssd (Which has the windows partition on it) from pci-e 4.0 nvme slot to the pci-e 3.0 slot, because I wanted to test the speed on a new Kingston NV2 pci-e 4.0 ssd. The system booted ok with the XPG ssd on the Pci-e 3.0 slot, all worked fine for a few hours, but after I finished measuring and partitioning the other ssd, i put the XPG back into main pci-e 4.0 slot, and when I wanted to power on the PC, all the fans were runing at high speeds, no posting on the monitor, and CPU diagnostic led was lit on the mobo. I tried a few manual restarts, I also removed the ssd several times and put it back, with no avail, the same result... Every time i switched the ssd's, I umplugged the power cord, for maximum safety.
After a few other sorts of attempts, I put the ssd back intro the Pci-e 3.0 slot, and surprise: it boots perfectly... I backed up my data and went on to investigate the issue.
I've tried the following:
- Startup repair
- Cleared c-mos (bios reset)
- wiped all data, formatted the ssd, deleted the partitions
- Checked and tested the ssd with crystal disk mark, HDD sentinel, Adata toolbox, every result seems to be perfect, no errors and such...
After all these steps, I tried to put back the XPG ssd intro pci-e 4.0 slot and give it a go, but no luck, problem remains - no posting and CPU diagnostic led is on.
Mentions:
- The Pci-e 4.0 slot on the motherboard works fine with other ssd (Kingston NV2), I even installed a fresh copy of windows on it for testing, everything seems fine
- The motherboard has the latest bios version

Short conclusion:
- The XPG ssd no longer works on the main nvme pcie-e 4.0 slot on the motherboard. Not posting, and cpu diagnostic led is on;
- The same XPG ssd works fine in the other nvme slot (pci-e 3.0), boots perfectly on windows and all that.

What could be the problem in this case? Is my ssd having some problems? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

When clearing the CMOS, you disconnect from the wall and display, remove the CMOS battery and press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Replace the battery after 30 mins.

Thanks for the reply!
The bios is:
Version 3405
2024/01/08

When I reset the cmos (by unplugging from the wall and removing the cmos battery for a few minutes) , the bios seemed to be reset...
But I will have another try by doing it your way, thank you!

I went with your advice, and after a few hic-cups, the miracle happened! It worked, the ssd is back! Thanks very much for your help!

LE: Slowly, the problems reappeared...very long boot time and other errors here and then... With the kingston nv2 ssd, everything is super fast...I think I'l RMA the ssd... I'm tired of it...
Anyway, thanks again for the tips.
