My mic just stopped working all of the sudden. Only static is heard now.

When I try to record my voice to save my songs, only static is heard. Nothing else. I tried looking into what could be the problem as best to my knowledge about technology. I love to sing and save my songs for myself that way. Please help?! By the way, this is on the windows 10.

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by making sure that the mic cable is connected properly into the port.
- Unplug then plug it back in just to make sure it's seated properly.
- If it will not work, uninstall/reinstall the Sound card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Sound driver.
- Once uninstalled, download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer site of the PC.
- Reboot the PC once the latest driver has been installed.
- After the reboot, do make sure that the mic is set as the default recording device.
- Right click on the speaker icon and select Recording Devices then right click on your microphone if it's listed then select Set Defaults and test it again.
- If it will still not work, do run System Restore.
