my minecraft multiplayer says its not connected to the internet

i want to join a multilplayer server but it says its not connected to the internet the sever is bosscraft and my friends say that its fine for them i think its because of my update please help

First check the error message. If it says "Not connected to the internet" or something like that, connect to your internet or test if you can access it. Of course you can now, because you're on the forums. But if it says "Outdated client" you must update to a newer version.
