I have a B85-G43 GAMING mobo. My HDD is nearing its end soon and I badly need to replace it. So I was thinking if I could install the SAMSUNG 970 EVO if I used a PCIe adapter. I'm not sure if it will be compatible and I can't find any resources online about compatibility. And if I can install it, will I be able to boot Windows 10 from the SSD? Could anyone please help me with this?

Z87 was the first consumer chipset to support NVMe booting. Not 100% sure on B85.... probably 50/50 chance.

However, unless you need NVMe speeds, a 2.5" SATA SSD would be more than sufficient, orders of magnitude 'better' than an HDD, and cheaper too (for comparable capacity).
