[SOLVED] my monitor can t run 144hz with adapter

hi, i have a benq xl2411z monitor.it has 1 hdmi slot and 1 dvi.my gpu has 1 hdmi and 3 display ports.so i decided to connect them with hdmi.hdmi on this monitor is limited at 1440x900 120hz[got hdmi 2.1].today i purchased a convertor[that converts display port to vga]the problem is that now i can choose 1920x1080 but only 60hz.when i make a custom resolution with 144hz it says NO SIGNAL.should i get a better converter or how can i finally get 1920x1080 144hz?
