[SOLVED] my monitor can't display anything above 100HZ

hey, im running into an issue where my monitor goes black if i put anything over 100hz. My monitor is a 144hz ASUS VG249Q. I'm running a gtx 1660. I cant find help anywhere online, please help me out! I think this is a hdmi cable issue stopping you from reaching higher refresh rates.
Please tell me what brand of hdmi cable you are using on the monitor currently.

I'm using DP, i tried using a hdmi and same problem, it was a samsung one. Thanks!

I suggest you try a different hdmi cable such as "ocean" I have 3 of these on my main rig, ps5 and oled switch, they offer much better refresh rates.

Also call asus technicial support if you haven't yet and explain the problem, ask them if your monitor made a new firmware update to fix issues and some bugs.

Or, have you just installed a new gpu or monitor?

Displayport as a rule will be your best connection.
HDMI cables can vary in quality and capability.

This is a new thing, my monitor has been working normally since i got it a year ago up to this point

The cable is not the problem, I’ve tried display port and multiple hdmi cables.
