My monitor is not playing sound through HDMI

My Asus vg248qe monitor has been working fine in the 3 months since I got it, and I haven't noticed any problems with it's built in speakers until now. I disconnected the hdmi cable from my PC to use the monitor with my PS3, and when I plugged it back into my PC later on, there was no sound coming from it. I have spent an hour trying to find a solution to this problem, but nothing has helped so far, and I still can't figure out what exactly is wrong. Have you rebooted?

HDMI can be hot swapped, its not 100% advised though as it may irritate the connection.

Yes, I have but it didn't do anything.

Ok we'll just keep things simple and try the obvious.

Check monitor's volume
Check if you have multiple PC HDMI inputs that the correct one is used
Check HDMI cable is properly in
Use the Sound Test function in Windows Play back devices, are the green volume bars moving?

Thank you so much! :') It turns out that the monitor's volume was set to zero, and I had forgot to turn it back up. I'm such an idiot...
