My monitor says no signal

I am installing a asus HD 7770 and my monitor is an acer LCD, I only have a DVI port and that is all..after I
install the graphics card and hook it up I don't have any signal to the monitor. I have a CD to run afterwards
or should do that before?
I'm sure I am connecting everything right. Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong or how
I can fix this problem.
I have an Hp pavilion h8 1320t computer.

you plug the the 6pin power on the card?

6 pin power? Nothing else came with it except for the cross bridge.
