My monitor starts up in 1280 x 1024p

First my monitor always started up in 1980 x 1080p and sometimes it started up in 1280 x 1024p but now it keeps starting up in 1280 x 1024p. What to do?

I already tried to Right click my background and open NIVIDIA control panel or just the windows setting but then the best it shows is the low resolution 1280 x 1024p.

What kind of cable is it connected with? It should be something other than VGA.

That shouldn't matter, VGA is perfectly capable of 1920×1080, plus if it was working before...

Have you tried reinstalling your monitor's drivers? That may work, it once fixed some problems for me.
