My monitor turns on but then turns off

On my new built computer the monitor turns on then says entering power saver then immediately shuts off please help!

anything else you can plug the monitor in to test? laptop, anything? make sure the monitor is set to the proper input.

It used to work but then had to plug in my graphics card so I did and then tried turning it on but it didn't work. Is there any thing I might have bumped?

is the cable securely plugged into the monitor? could have loosened when you plugged into the pc.

Everything seems to be plugged in and even when the computer is off and I try to turn the monitor on it still does the same thing any ideas?

does your monitor have multiple inputs? it could be set to an inactive input.
have a spare monitor to make sure the computer is working?

I don have any spare monitors but I'm pretty sure the computer still works but it's the monitors problem

Normally if the computer is not on it stays on power saver until I shut the computer off but now it goes to power saver mode for a second then shuts off immediately regardless if the computer is on or off

which usually happens when there is no signal.

I just tried unplugging the monitor and it showed the dell letters than went to power saver and immediately shut off

you need either a monitor to test the pc, or a pc, laptop, ps3 something to test the monitor.
buy a monitor to test? if the monitor is indeed toast you'll need a replacement anyway. if its good you can return it and diagnose the pc.
how are you replying to this? can you use that system to test?

I'm using my phone I have have a laptop that might work for testing the monitor

But before I test it is there anything I might have touched inside the computer that might have made this happen?

we just need to see if the monitor will work properly. if your phone has hdmi out you could use that if the monitor has hdmi in.
plug the monitor into the laptop and see if it will work. if it does the pc will need some more work. if it doesn't you can be fairly certain that you need a new monitor

I got the monitor from a friend it's a Dell and my laptop is a Samsung

on laptops you may have to enable the secondary screen with an Fkey, on my laptop its F4.
if its enabled and screen is acting the same. RIP monitor.
