My monitor's resolution is being weird

Whenever i change the resolution to my recommended 1920x1080 the screen gets to big and i dont see the outer edges like my task bar and a few of my icons. So i have to go down to 1768x992, but the problem is that when i play games there's no option for that resolution type and the game's screen would end up being really distorted.

does your monitor have an auto button on it & if yes then press it.
