my motherboard has burns on it!

Sounds like a short and you probably can't fix it

motherboard almost certainly dead,but you also need to check the power supply as it may have failed and taken your motherboard with it.

No, it is history. Be careful installing a new motherboard without determining the source of the short It could short out the replacement motherboard as well.
