I have an Asus Z-87A motherboard. https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Z87--DDR3-1600-Motherboard/dp/B00CRJSV9O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468107436&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+z87-a
When my computer turns on now, it turns on, fans spin up, then instantly shuts off and restarts. It repeats this over and over.
Troubleshooting:
At first I thought it was the case so I breadboreded it. No go. Next solution I thought was the PSU. Luckily I have a whole other system ready to put together for my brother. Brand new PSU didn't help. Then I went down the list, one ram stick, other one, new slots for the ram. I even tried the brand new stick I got for the other build. No dice. Different CPU, no dice. I then unplugged everything from the motherboard, let it sit for an hour, then put it all together and turned it on. It booted! I was like great, let's see how stable it is. Used it for a while, whole screen froze (Exactly what happened when the problem started happening) and then I forced it to shut off. Tried turning it on again and it started the restarting cycle thing.
Then I plugged all my old components into a new motherboard, ram, cpu, psu, hard drive etc. and it works just fine. Thus, I believe I have narrowed it down to the motherboard itself. I've blown out any dust, seen if any debri or bent pins were touching, checked all the capacitors that they weren't falling off...and it's sitting on an antistatic surface right now.
Any ideas?
