A few days ago my pc wouldn't boot, i am not 100% sure what cause it too boot again, but it did. Now i have a different problem. My motherboard makes 3 beeps(long?) and no display. I've tried to reseat the ram, tried with different sticks of ram that were compatible, tried two different graphics cards, i've tried to reset the cmos, cleaned the dimm sticks, tried two different monitors with different cables.

My motherboard is a msi z87 gd45 gaming.

Is my motherboard dead?

I looked it up and the beeps means its bad ram or ram not placed right, but i've tried different ram and reseated it many times. tried running with one ram and switched them. didn't work 🙁

RAM can work in one computer, but not another. I have a stick here that works on a Dell MB, but not an ASUS. I checked it with a memory program and it is bad. So I stuck it in the dell anyway and have had no issues.. yet! LOL

Best way to check is get a new/known working stick and try again. If it now works, your RAM was bad. If a known working stick doesn't fix it, it could be any number of things on the motherboard. good luck!

I did try my borthers ram and i checked it on the website and it is indeed compatible with my motherboard. still the same issue. Could it be something wrong with the motherboard and i need to replace it? I don't want to buy parts only to end up with the same problem 🙁 thanks for answering tho.

it could be the motherboard went bad. Since it is beeping, it is probably not the CPU.

try reseating the memory one more time. make sure to push it all the way down slowly. Make sure the clips snap in place by themselves and then push them some more.

You can also try to clear the cmos through a jumper on the mb.

good luck!

rule out gpu or a bad ram stick. pull the gpu use onboard video port. use one ram stick. start it in the a0 slot. walk the ram stick into the other slots. if no change swap it out with a known good ram stick. the newer intel motherboards the ram controller built into the cpu. make sure the cpu seated there no bent pins under the cpu. also make sure there good power going to the cpu.

taken out the gpu and used one stick. I get no beeps this time but no display still. checked cables, everything is pluged in.
