My motherboard's backplate refuses to snap into my case

I'm currently working on building my first rig but have already run into a snag. I purchased the Gigabyte H110M-A motherboard and Corsair Carbide 200R case using PC Part Picker to make sure they would fit correctly. Unfortunately, the backplate that came with the motherboard does not seem to fit within its designated spot. No matter how much I maneuvered or applied pressure to it, I could not get it to snap in properly. Or rather, it seemed that one corner specifically failed to snap in. Should I chalk this up to a faulty backplate and proceed with purchasing a replacement? I'm really at a loss.

Hello... lubrication and even force on all corners, when you hit it.

You could take a metal file to the Case Opening too, There could be a metal Burr, Just a few strokes in the right place... Use a magnet to remove any metal filings, and I find this to be the BEST final solution after being PISSed off... B )

Try giving it a little force, if it still doesn't pop into place then bend the small metal tabs on the edges of the motherboard I/O sheild. The will allow it to become a slightly looser fit and should hopefully allow you to snap the I/O motherboard shield into place.

If not then have a look the case. Make sure there are no rough edges or metal spurs (Shards) of metal. If there is remove them and see if the I/O shield will fit then. Good look my friend! :wahoo:

Try pushing the edge of the tab, to the left of the longer side of the I/O sheild sometimes the shorter side to them fail to pop in :(

I would not recommend using "wet soap" if his motherboard is near the case. The soap resedue could leak onto the I/O ports and leak onto the motherboard or even worse he could spill the soap on the motherboard its self.

You shouldn't need to use lubricants to make it fit

NEVER put open liquids near components, its a recipe for disaster!

Hello... I didn't see a MB in the PIC I saw... we are at the point of build of preparing the case here before MB install.

As for using lubricants for trouble free fitting of a press fit component... apparently you have never been in a manufacturing plant or privy too Mass production and assembly technics, of tight fitting parts.
You use common sense here and wipe away the lubricant used.

Another method would be to freeze the I/O plate/object to reduce the material size for a assembly.
