Question My new 1440p 144hz monitor has artefacts and the screen randomly goes black

I recently got a AOC CQ32G1 which at first appeared to be working perfectly but I started to notice the colours turn white and then back to normal and artefacts. To see if it was the gpu causing the problem i used obs to record the screen while I went through benchmarks and some games and I never noticed problems when I closed obs artefacts started showing up and the screen turned black for a short time. Is the problem with the gpu or the monitor? I’ve also changed the cable and that didn’t make a difference

Is that a movie playback? Or cut-scene in some game?
If movie playback - do you have same results with different video players? Vlc? Media Player Classic?

Anyway - reinstall gpu drivers with clean install option.

I’ve fully reinstalled drivers with a clean install and the artefacts are still appearing

Then either corrupted game, corrupted video drivers or overheated/damaged graphics card.

You can try reducing gpu overclock and improve cooling inside your pc.

Is their any chance it’s the monitor
When the aretefacts appear it only happens on the new one.

Do you use same video output (on graphics card) for old and new monitor?
What cable are you using? Any adapters?
What's the model name of old monitor?

So new one is 2560x1440 144Hz.
Do you experience same artifacts with different resolutions, different refresh rates?

The new one uses a DisplayPort cable and the old on uses hdmi no adaptors

Or run both side by side and switch 1/2 over

The new monitor still has artefacts but the old one doesnt even when I play the same scenes that cause artefacts on the old one

There isn’t any artefacts with hdmi but that might be because it’s only running at 60hz

I would say it could definitely be the display port, mainly because it doesnt happen with hdmi. And if your new monitor has no hdmi it can be hard to tell if its the monitor or the dvi port on the gpu either way your gonna have to replace one to narrow it down to see what it could be exactly. good thing its still new as you should be able to do an rma and figure it out fairly easy. Patience is the hard part.
