the store told me i have to add a thermaright true black 120 heatsink and some extraa fans to cool the system(not planning oc) is it true?, if not what sort of cooling should i add??
 
Enermax PSUs have a reputation for blowing up ;)

You do not need 1066 RAM unless you are overclocking.

If you are just going to use one video card you should get a P45 board, not x38.

The case comes with all fans except one rear fan you need to buy.

Someone is trying to soak you, bud. You do not need that CPU cooler unless you intend to overclock... or perhaps if you live someplace hot and have no AC.

i am buying 2 hd4870 not one, thats why im taking the x38 chipset.

i got so more question im afraid:

*what other psu would you suggest that will fit the price range of the enermax??

*should i get the antec 900, would i'l be needing to replace the box fan or does the 4 case fans are good enought??

No need to if you are not overclocking. Stock cooler is fine. If you want to use an aftermarket cooler to cool it down further, that's OK. You just don't need to.

For two 4870s you will need at least a Corsair or PC Power & Cooling 750W.

the Hiper M series 880W would be even better.

I don't know what you are paying for the RAM. You are only going to run a 333 FSB, so all you actually need is 667Mhz RAM... but if the price is good, sure get the 1066. You might decide to OC some day.

The WD 500 GB is considered slow for some reason. See if you can swing the 640 version, or switch to a Seagate 500. It's just that one WD size that's not recommended.

I looked up the board. Pretty nice price. You realize it won't quite perform as well as an x48, but a bit better than an P45, right?

the dfi lanpatry x38 supports up to 1333 mhz fsb, maybe to x48 supports higher speeds. i still didnt fully understod why the x38 will support only up to 333 fsb??

and yes i thinking about changing the ram to a 800hz one but i've yet to decide.

about the wd 500 gb note taking im think about changing it to the seagate 500gb sata2 32mb, its about the same price
 
The relative performance of the two boards has nothing to do with FSB.

The 1333 FSB claim is a marketing number, and has little to do with actual FSB... or perhaps they are trying to make it simpler, but really just confusing the issue.

Front Side Bus is the core speed of your computer, from which your other numbers are derived.

It's taken from your processor. In this case your processor runs at a FSB of 333. It is then multiplied... in this case by 8.5:

333 x 8.5 = 2.83Ghz

Other processors might have an FSB of 266.

DDR stands for Double Data Rate, and it does just that.

So, 333 x2 = 667Mhz RAM

Now, you can make your RAM run at a higher multiplier... for instance you could run it at 333 x3 = 1000Mhz. It would not give you any performance boost. So, we just run our RAM at that "1:1" ratio with our processors, meaning they both run at their native multipliers on the FSB.

proximon im sorry im asking those newibe questions but im trying to understand before im buying.

if i got it right, todays mainboard fsb's work at around 333 mhz, and that means that the fastes memory i should get today is 667 mhz, anything faster whould be waste of money case it wount work any faster(assuming im not xc), so why dont get a 667 mhz memory insted of the 800 one in the first place??

Was wondering why not get A 4870X2(single pci-e). Its one card like 3870X2. I have no idea why must you crossfire when there is a 2 in one graphic card. If you take a 4870X2 no need crossfire motherboard, you can go for P35 (you can get a Gigabyte board) , P45 (dodge Gigabyte's P45 line-up; they all got issues).
Of course you can even go for DFI, Asus, etc. I don't really like MSI but their products are quite cheap.

If no OC'ing go for DDR 2 667, 800. The investment for higher speed is useless if not OC'ing.

RAM is very cheap.

Let's say you were buying a car, and you lived in Idaho. The speed limit in Idaho, we'll say, is 55mph. Next door is Montana, where the speed limit is 85mph.

You have a choice of two cars. Identical MPG, look the same, etc. One goes 55MPH and costs $12,238.00. The other car goes 85 mph and costs $12,340.00.

Which should you buy?

first of all thanks for the support so far, it helped me a lot!!!

i loved the car metaphor, im probably wont be upgrating the build(the upgrade will be anther build in few years), so il guess il go with the 800hz.
is the mushkin ddr2 4096mb (2048mb x2) 800mhz cl 4-4-4-12 xp a good memory?? iv'e choose it because of the low latency's

about the hd4870 in cf mode,at first i did put the hd4870x2 but a friend then said that cf mode is a better solution cause il get 2 cards running at x16, rather then one card at x16, isnt it????
 
I'm not familiar with that exact Mushkin kit.

I would place voltage before timings. There is a mushkin kit that has 1.8V and timings of 5-4-4-12. If that is the kit you mean then yes, go for it.

Just look at benchmarks for the CF and X2, and decide.... I'll link you one:

Back to my previous point:
Tests show the x38 board performs slower than the x48. This test is done with 4850s and only shows a tiny difference, but you would likely see a bit more performance difference with 2 4870s in CF:

overall the hd4870x2 better by few precents then the hd4870 cf,earlier i did put the x2 in my build(dont know why i toke it off), ill think ill go with the x2 but stick with the x38(for future cf update) , why x38 you ask cause overall the differance is at max %2 bettwen x38 and x48, but in 1920x1200 resoulotion(the one il be using) theres hardly any differance besides its a bit cheaper.

if im replacing the gpu from CF to an x2 one, would i still be needing corsair 750w psu or could i setale for something less powerfull and a bit cheaper (trying to cut the costs a bit)???

about the ram issue, the kit i wrote about works at 2.0-2.1v, i didnt understad why its better if it works in low voltage??(my guess is cooling).
 
1.8V is the standard and if RAM needs 2.0 to boot sometimes it won't boot at 1.8V

A1.8V stick with decent timings is superior in other ways. Usually the voltage has been increased so that timings good be improved... in other words take that 2.0 stick and try to run it at 1.8V, and you would have to loosen the timings a good deal.

I'm honestly not sure what exactly you need on that X2. The Corsair 650 would be a safe bet. Possibly one of the OCZ 600W.
