Hello,

I am working on a new build for home with moderate gaming (I mainly play MMOs/D3/Sim City/and maybe Skyrim eventually) but enough functionality to work with Adobe Creative Suite. Just a quick overview of my experience: I haven't built a PC for a few years and an overview of my last build I went with the first gen i5 with a Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 with 4GB of Ripjaws. My current built I am trying to stay below $1,000 and I will be reusing my now 8GB Ripjaws I have for the time being. I have already bought a case and an SSD drive mostly due to them being on sale (SSD was half off). The rest I could use some input on. I don't really overclock but I like to have the option if I so choose.

Case
Cooler Master Storm Enforcer
with an Cooler Master Megaflow 200mm fan

SSD
OCZ Vertex 120 GB

HD - Primarily for storage and games that aren't played as often
Western Digital Caviar Green WD5000AZRX 500GB

Video Card
MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr II GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5

Mobo
ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI

CPU
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz and I'll swap out the stock fan for ZALMAN CNPS5X Performa 92mm FSB

PSU
RAIDMAX Blackstone series RX-700AC - I know RAIDMAX is hit and miss but that was my brand used and it's still running strong (600W). With my cooling setup probably not going to SLI anytime soon.


RAM (eventually)
GeIL EVO CORSA Series 16GB or something comparable, don't want to spend more than $115.

1: for the hard drive, id go with something like a seagate barracuda 500gb or a western digital caviar blue drive. green drives are slowwww

2: feel bad for you since vertex 3 was one of the most unreliable SSDs that was out there

3:for the graphics card, id get a 7850 as it performs the same or better while using half the power

4:for the power supply, get something that is known to be reliable. giood one for this build is the xfx 550w

5: for the cooler, get something that is better like the hyper 212 evo from CM

6:for the ram, id suggest buying another kit of the ripjaws

I hadn't seen that PSU before, it is about double what the one I have listed is, but I may consider it. I have read what happens if you skimp on the wrong parts (psus being chiefly among those) but I like to keep my PSUs below $60 if at all possible. Thanks for the suggestion, was the PSU the only part that caught your attention?

Thanks for the input - didn't even look at the 7850 - good to know since I was researching the 6870.

I meant to ask about the Green Drive, I realize because they have a cut in power consumption they may be a bit slower but that isn't countered by the Cache (64 MB) and SATA 6?
