So i'm looking at building a new computer for college. My budget is about 1,000. I want it to last for a while, and still play my games without issue.

So far I'm thinking...

CPU 220$ - i5 2500k SB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

GPU 270$ - Radeon HD 6950 2gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=6950+2gb&x=0&y=0

Mobo 150$ -GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128512

Case - Raidmax Smilodon http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156078
or Rosewill BLACKHAWK http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147107

HDD 60$ - 500gb 7200 rpm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136795

RAM 60$ - 8gb Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3

Powersupply - TBD (How many watts do you think i need? )

This is my first build, I think ive checked everything for compatability but any double checking would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to suggest tweaks to the build, just be sure to include why you think I should switch it.

Graphic card - Why the 1GB when you can get 2GB for just few $$more,... Also 2GB would be advantageous @ high resolutions when AA is turned ON,...

The ASRock board that was recommended is a good board. As well as the Gigabyte board.

Will this pc be in the same room as you sleep? IF so, I recommend getting a quiet case.

Fractal Define r3
Antec p183 v3
Silverstone FT02

are currently the only viable quiet cases out there. Any of those serve as good quiet cases.
