Just grabbed a cheap chaintech fx 5200 for pretty cheap for an older amd 1ghz. Well when ever I load up a game example quake3 - the starting screen where it has like new game / options / and all the stuff is like tie dyed colors. It had red,orange,blue,yellow...etc colors and no real texture. The screen also jumps around and I cant play any game since there are no real textures. Any help?

Drivers. Install/uninstall/reinstall drivers. If you didn't install yet, do it. If you have old drivers, unistall them with Driver Cleaner and install the new ForceWare drivers. If you have the current drivers, reinstall them. If it still doesn't work, check that you have DX isntalled.

You might just have a lemon, but I doubt that.

DirectX, chances are that the game wouldn't even start without it (I've never tried), so I don't know if that could be a solution. Look at http://www.microsoft.com for it.

No, not really.

But where did you grab this 'CHEAP' FX5200. if it's second hand or open box, you may have bought a 'cheap' fried card.

Doesn't sound normal for any card really.

And beyond drivers. I couldn't begin to guess at what's causing it. Try a completely clean install of the nV drivers, and baring anything more drastic, yes RMA the thing for a new one (I would suggest a better one like a GF4ti).
