My new gaming system

Hi people!

Just wanted an honest opinion on the system I am about to build.
I want it to run games like Bioshock and Modern warfare at a silky smooth framerate.
I also want it to be a bit future proof for games like Bioshock 2 and Modern warfare 2 😛.
What do you think? Will this build do? or will I have to build an even greater "monster"?

At what resolution?

If it's a 1680x1050 monitor, a single 4890 will be enough to cover those games
I have silky smooth frames in Bioshock and COD4 with an E8400 and a 4870 512MB 😛

So yes, you are covered most likely, unless you have a 30" monitor.

Oh! totally forgot about that. ATM I am using my 32" monitor at 1280*720 but I am going to change it in for a monitor that supports 1080P in the near future.

Be sure to research the size of your GPU and the space between the PCI-e slots. I had two gtx 280's on a m2n-sli deluxe and the cards covered up two of my PCI slots. The motherboard you have looks well equipped. I think i saw 4 PCI-e's right? and is it the 2 blue run at x16? Add in a nice Creative SB

just get a single 4890, then put the money you saved towards one of the DX11 graphics cards which come out in September.

Yeah I am guessing its the two blue slots that run at x16 so that should not be a problem .
True a SB would be sweet!


As for DX11, will it be worth it?
I jumped on the DX10 train in its early stage with the 8800GTS 320. Didn't take long for them to get replaced and obsolet.
Don't you think I will be better of waiting a few months for the second wave of DX11 cards?

If you have the patiences, wait. I do not know to much about DX11. I guess i need to catch up on my reading. With me, it seems like i buy my cards 6-12 months before new technology is coming out. But oh well its gonna happen for the rest of our lives

You have a point there with the "gonna happen for the rest of our lives" thing. Maybe I just wait for DX12 to be released xD.
Nah, I will go with the DX10 cards. There will probably not be any good games that support DX11 from day 1 anyway. Maybe I get a DX11 card next summer . Hopefully there will be 1 or 2 good games out there that supports it.

haha yea! I went to read about DX11 and majority of the peers say that DX10 is gonna be around for a long time. When DX11 comes out, it will be there for the peeps who have tons of money to purchase the hardware to run it.IMHO they are considered "beta testers". Which i think anything new that comes out and takes a small loanjust to purchase is for the money makers to work the kinks out. But yea dont be afraid of the DX10
