I had a rough weekend when my graphics card kicked the bucket. It's stopped being able to output video or bypass the BIOS checks. I tried all forms of firmware/software and concluded the video vard was dead and purchase a PNY Geforce 780 from Fry's locally.
I reinstalled Windows 8.1 64-bit and began down another insane journey, which is that I can't get my new graphics card to output to my Vizio E421VA. I know that the HDMI port on both the TV and the graphics card are 100% okay. I've tried changing out the cables. I've tried a DVI-HDMI cable (DVI-computer; HDMI-TV) and none of it works.
To check if the cables/ports work I've been able to correctly output HDMI to both of my ASUS VS247 monitors from my PNY Geforce 780. I've checked my HDTV works via the HDMI by connecting it both to my laptop via HDMI-mini adaptor/connection, but also by changing my BIOS to allow for integrated multi-monitor while using my PEG. This allowed me to plug in my HDTV into the motherboard, MSI Z97 5, and with the Intel 4600 Graphics output to my TV, but unable to make it function with the software for my graphics card. I can turn of the multi-monitor feature in the BIOS and keep the HDMI plugged into the mobo and nothing happens.
I can get the HDMI to register if I run VGA, but ultimately it shows 'No Signal' and I can't get image to show up on it. It registers within the Device Manager as a Generic PnP Monitor. The Nvidia software can identify the TV as my E421VA for the purposes of Digital Audio output and as a monitor, but isn't sending any signal, i'm guessing. I can set all 3 of my monitors to extend desktop so that it goes Asus - E421VA - Asus and I'll be able to slide my mouse from across the Asus screens, where it will disappear while going through the HDTV and back onto the other Asus screen.
I've fully updated my BIOS, firmware on my graphics card, firmware on my hard drives, I've got all of the hardware as up to date on firmware as I think I can get it. All of my computers driver software has been updated. I've swapped out different PCI-e slots and I'm finally at a total loss.
After spending ~14 hours to realize that my first graphics card was dead, ASUS R9 290, I'm stuck. I've come to a point where I don't know to do to allow myself to have a TV to watch from my PC. I'm ultimately thinking that it's some limitation with Nvidia not being able to figure it out.
Thank you in advance.
