My new pc system rig is ok for heavy graphics games ?

Aug 25, 2009

Im about to build a pc rig system that the base of it is intel core I7

cpu .

This is the hardware so far :
Intel Core i7-920 Box

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5

Westren Digital WD1001FALS 3.5" 1000GB SATA2 32MB

OCZ DDR3 6144MB (2048MBx3) 1600Mhz CL 7-7-7-24 Platinum

Gainward nVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 1792MB DDR3 PCIe

CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000

Corsair CMPSU-850TXEU 850W

Scythe Mugen 2

I want this system to play games on highest graphics settings .
For example i want to be able to play gta iv on texture highest and

view distance 100 .

But i just noticed last night that there is a problem with the video

card GTX 295 since the gta iv game dosent use SLI ? If im not wrong

its something to do with the SLI .

Anyway i saw videos and saw that with gtx 295 the game dosent see all

the 1gb memory of the video card .

What can i do to solve it ? Beacuse this video card is very good .

( And what do you think about my system so far ? It will be good for

few years ? Do you think i have to wait for the new cpu, video cards

and Directx 11 that will come out in few months ? )

Thank you .

And you're lining yourself up for an 'egg in face' moment if it doesn't, just a cautionary. [:mousemonkey]

Wait, wait. Giving advices to wait should be done with carefulness. October is near, yes, but we don't yet know the performance nor the price. When new hardware comes out it is overpriced and drivers are not at the full potential. We don't know the power of that card, we don't know the price and to propably fulfill it's full potential you will have to wait another month or so, for not to talk about the fact that usually the first cards on a new technology are surely not the best ones of that technology; my advice is instead on not waiting.

I will buy the GTX 295 now and change it later when more options comes out. Anyway a GPU is good for about 2 years (1 for hard core gaming) then must be changed and the life span of the 295 is more than enough for that period of time. Directx 11 implementation on games is still theory and we don't yet know the specifics of new GPUs to come. Waiting for the best is usually not a good option: you lose only time because the best get beaten a second after.
