Yes it will work as entry rig, but if you are buying all the components that motherboard is out dated and the X3 will work in AM3+ board with DDR3 ram.

Why should an entry level card burn out motherboard? It should simply work as long as it is operational and the board has a slot for it.

oh okay i might upgrade the motherboard in the future but i was just wondering because i have a friend tell me that the motherboard couldnt handle that graphic card

Your friend was wrong the board has the slot and the card is compatible.
