Hello good people,

I've experienced this GPU problem for some time on my Dell Precision 7720 Laptop. I downloaded a version from Nvidia website, installed and wrote successfully installed. It appears in the device manager but with a yellow mark.

When I type Nvidia control panel in the search, I can see it but if I click on it, nothing launches. Also when I right click on desktop, I can only see Nvidia rtx desktop manager but Nvidia control panel is not available. In the task manage, I can only see GPU 0 which is the integrated Intel HD 630 but not Nvidia.

I've tried a fresh Windows 10 installation and did Windows update which installed both Intel and Nvidia but still the graphics card doesn't seem to work. I even tried downloading from Dell website directly, extracted and installed successfully but still not showing up in task manager performance tab.

My bios is set to allow switchable graphics card so my PC seems to be running on the basic Intel hd. Is there any solution I can try to get the GPU to work? Is there a way extract the downloaded Nvidia from Nvidia website so I can get a folder with.inf file and try installing manually form the device manager by searching through harddisk?

any suggestions will be highly appreciated

Maybe try and read through this thread;

Which driver version are you working with, from Nvidia?

I've tried a fresh windows 10 installation
Where did you source the installer for the OS? You're advised to install the OS in offline mode, then install all relevant drivers in an elevated command while in offline mode. Install Chipset>MEI>Audio>Nvidia GPU>Intel GPU>LAN>WiFi then connect to the internet, update the OS.

It appears in the device manager but with a yellow mark.
With an error code 43? Use GPU-Z and see if you're seeing zero(0)'s. If it's a yes for both, then your discrete GPU has gone kaput.

I have launched GPU-Z and checked on the results of intel hd 630 and quadro P3000, in the first one showing results for Intel hd 630, I'm getting the expected values like clock speeds , memory, default clock , but memory size is written N/A, in the second screenshot for Quadro P3000, I'm getting some zeros in the GPU clock , Memory size is 0, default clock is 0, pixel fil rate and memery type are "unknown".

I also think the GPU is no longer functional, I downloaded the GPU from Nvidia website, the Intel hd I got from Intel website,and the chipset I installed from Dell website, the windows was from Microsoft website,but seemingly the zeros points to someone bad,

What's your advice being that I'm planning to aquire a new mobile workstation, I'm thinking of trying this time a HP Zbook 17 G9 that has Nvidia rtx A3000 instead of dell precision 7760 with the same GPU. My experience with the Dell Precisons has not be quite good even this my model of Precision 7720 I accept is also an old one.

Do you think the HP Zbooks mobile workstations are a bit durable and I may not experience the breakdown in Nvidia GPUs like I've experienced with Dell Precisions?
