Hello, I have purchased a few parts to make a gaming computer. Preferably mid/to high range. This is my first time ever buying computer parts abd pouring together once I have everything.

Currently purchased parts: corsairTX 650W PSU, an ASUS GTX 650 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP ready SLI support videocard and a rosewill galaxy-01 computer case.

Currently looking for: motherboard, cpu, monitor and any other "required" items

I am currently looking at getting an asus maximus VI HERO LGA 1150 mobo and looking at an i5 cpu. I am going to just transfer my 1TB HDD from my current system to the new one. If that is possible.

I do want this to be a med/high range gaming rig for current titles. I am not looking to OC or dual gpus or record/upload videos. Just playing and browsing internet.

Recommendations? Tips? On what I have and plan to get are all welcome.

For the Motherboard:
H87 refers to the chipset. A good brand for motherboards is ASUS.

Hard Drive:
Always go Western Digital. They are a long-standing brand and are very trusted. An SSD will not go for 30 bucks, more like 60 or 70. So 60 for a 1 tb WD blue, and another 70 for a 120 gb SSD for the OS.
a will be under powered for games like battlefield 4 and Titanfall. I'd go with a 660,760,770(preferably the 770). The 650 will be good for internet and small games like team fortress 2. If your old hdd was in a OEM computer, it will not work as OEM's normally lock the HDD so it will only work with that computer only. Mobo is great. Get a i5-4760(K is you want to overclock). If you can wait for 2 or 3 months, a new series of haswell should be coming out.

If you are not gong to overclock, do not get that motherboard as it is a huge waste of cash. Get a h87 motherboard instead of the z87 Maximus vi hero. It will cost a lot less and you won't lose many features because you are not going to overclock. Get an i5 4570 because you will not be OC'ing.

What about games like ESO, WOW, rome, dragon age series, smite, Warframe I won't be playing fps games like CoD or bf. Mostly rpgs/strategy stuff like that.

And for OC'n what is it exactly? Is it important for none super intense games? Like I said I won't be playing fps games like titanfall or cod. Atleast not any time soon.

oc MEANS OVERCLOCK. It just increases speed in all areas. Didn't realize you were not going to OC. that board will waste money if you will not overclock. Currently, the overclock able version of the i5-4670 is cheaper....
The 650 won't be able to handle those games at 30+ fps( I think). I'd go with a 660 just to be on the safe side and have some future proofing.

Shoot im sorry, I messed up. I do have the GTX 660 GPU. My psu is 650. And what motherboard would you recommend? The other guy said h87. It's that a good mobo? And also for the hard drive what would you recommend? Ideally id lie to keep that under a 100 but if necessary I will increase my price range.

You can get a 1tb hard drive for $60. You can get much better performance with and SSD paired with a hard drive. That will bring the total to $120 for storage. The OS (usually windows) can go on the SSD, and everything else on the 1tb hard drive.
