I'd buy a Ryzen system for $50 more.

for 1080p gaming, thats fine.

you could save $40 on the fans and add $50 for a GTX 1070 = quieter faster PC.

this is a good build on 1080p you will be able to get 60 fps on majority of games

Good or bad is impossible to quantify without knowing your intended uses...

Looking it over, I assume 1080p gaming?

As for upgrades/downgrades etc, I'd have some general comments:

1. An i5-7600K and Z270 board won't change pricing much, but are clocked higher - and new tech. Smart buy. (ends up being +$19)

2. The EVGA 500W PSU is not the best, I'd suggest the G550 from SeaSonic or Rosewill Capstone G650 in the same pricerange, and much better quality.

3. Looks like you're going for a Red/Black color scheme?....although there's some white throughout too? You're probably overpaying a little in spots, just to keep the white in there.

4. The 850 Pro isn't bringing a lot to the table that the 850 EVO isn't

5. For the extra $0.10, the PNY 1060 XLR8 is clocked a good bit higher

6. A 2TB 7200rmp Barracude is available for ~$20 less

7. You don't need the MX4 - Cryorigs included paste is good enough - but I left it in anyway.

8. The fans aren't particularly necessary. I believe the SPEC-ALPHA comes with a couple, which are likely sufficient - but I left the fans in anyway,

A revised build I'd comfortably recommend, and happens to save you $25 or so too.

1. I don't see the value in doing a last gen build

2. I'd find Shin Etsu G751paste the best for CPU, also half the price.

3. The SSD does squat for games that don't fit on it and a 5400 rpm drive and is 2/3 as fast as an equivalent 7200 rpm drive3. It's also a laptop drive. An SSHD will give you 50% more speed in gaming than the best 2 TB HDs

4. I'd upgrade the PSU to at least a B2 or Seagate S12 / M12

5. I agree w/ techpowerup ... best 1060 available.

6. I'm always wary about aggressively styled cases as, while you get this "oh wow, that's cool" 1st impression, that aggressiveness can get intrusive over time. Make sure that you want to look at it for 3-4 years before pulling the trigger.

You must be refering to Ryzen 5 and not Ryzen 7 then for only $50 more, and which case Ryzen 5 is not even out yet and not benchmarked yet thus we have no idea whether it is a good buy or not.

With that said it could be very worthwhile to wait a week to find out.

Otherwise build is solid except for PSU, that particular EVGA unit is not good, A B2/G2/G3/GS unit is good as well as anything seasonic.

Since gaming doesn't need the extra threads, and 7600k is faster in gaming ... can't see spending the extra money if its a gaming box. Add workstation usage / video editing to any significant extent, then Ryzen has a place.

Good PC, just think that you COULD insted get a WD 7200rpm 1tb HHD, depends on how much stuff you wanna put in it though I guess
