When i turn on my pc(a desktop) it stars the fans, the led showing the that the motherboard has power ligths up... and the problem is that the hard drive stats, but the system takes hours too boot... during this the computer scren is totaly dark(it does't show any info about what is hapening) when it finaly starts it works as normal, no slowdwons no crasches no blue screen...

the leed in the front panel tells me that the hard drive is workin at maximum speed, when playing games rarely the hard drive works that mutch,
this problem hapens more severely when i load the hard drive above 50% and when new data is writen on it,

Sorry about my poor english

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_ldr.140303-2307)
BIOS: BIOS Date: 02/23/04 12:18:46 Ver: 08.00.09
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.4GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page File: 1098MB used, 2995MB available
the HDD half tera in size

A pentium can handle a boot easily lol. its your HDD. Try using a utility like Seagate SeaTools or HDTunes to check for SMART results and bad sectors. yours may be a slow HDD running at like 3200 RPM. But since you stated that the PC performs normally after booting, I'd suggest you update your BIOS and try a clean boot.

But it was bogth only one year ago it is still whithin the waranty

I will try that... ive been cheking for updates for the bios in the past but they didn't work i had to re-instal the original cd after i got the updatte

I believe that's the root for the issue. You must get the latest BIOS updates installed and one more suggestion, run MemTest x86 to look for RAM errors, though its unlikely, just for precaution.

My RAM is composed of Three kigston devices (all whith limitless waranty) it is higly unlikely that they have any erros... im runing Hd tunes now and util now the HDD is okay

HDD scan is complete no erros found... RAM was cheked too no errors found... ive been loking for that bios update and i found a lot of issues:

Fist there are several versions of this motherboard
http://

second the same loock like motherboards to have diferent bios
http://

and the date of the latest patch is mutch prior than the date of the manufactory of the HDD

There are no updates dedicated exclusevely to Windows 7

Microsoft security essencials does not have a boot time scan tool and is uncapable of detecting rootkits, a few days ago it detected a virus and later i ran scan but it didn't find any more virus...

besides my pc was taking too long to iniciate long before that, but the problem impruves when i delete files... if the HDD has less than 40% of its space ocupaid the pc takes only haf hour to start

Boot scan performed whith Avast... some viruses were found but one o them cold only be moved to quarentine and yet another cold not be deleted, nor moved, nor repared, this "virus" is a steam aplication...

well it seams that the problem is solved!
Thank you MeteorsRainig

well it seams that this is not over yet, because the computer today took 6 HOURS just to boot like hapened before...

yesterday i made a boot-time whith avast and malwarebits, avast dected 7 viruses and all exept one were deleted that i them eleminated manualy, and after my last post i ran another scan whith malwarebits whith did not detect any viruses...
i them copied "Monty Python's Life of Brian" from one of my flash drives (i scaned the flash drive whith avast and malwerebits) to the HDD and i turned off the pc, and today i turned it on and it took arrond 6 hours to boot...

i don't defrag it for some time
but how to defrag during boot
i had temp and %temp% clened up ntwo days ago but not during boot

today i am feling it a bit slower because the avast takes more cpu tham microsoft security essencencials (i know this thogth task manager) and second i turned it on at arrond 9 hours(Lisbon/portugal time) when i came back arond 15 hours it was asking for the pin code, also there is another thing the mother board has a batery that serves to keep the clock runing among other tings that batery has dead for more than six months the last time i replaced it, it only lasted six months it was replaced along whith the anterior hard drive tha simply stoped working...

i did't assume every single time the MoBo clock cell fails the pc comes to the date of 31-12-2001 23:00 hours the clock starts counting only after the the motherboard logo shows up on the scren and after it started it showed the date 31-122001 23:15 so i assume that it took all this time just to boot...
MoBo clock cell has been faling for years now, the mother board is now arround 10 years old and the clock cell had been faling for 4 years before the original HDD failed one year ago.

the Anterior HDD never gave any of this troble before failing... it just broke down... ah and another thing, The fist HDD on this failed only after one month after the pc had been bogth...
