Okay, here is my situation .

I have a Intel i3 4150 CPU
8 GB ( 4+4 ) Corsair Vengeance DRR3 Memory
Gigabyte GA-H81M-S Motherboard
WD Green 1TB HDD
Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate .

This system was configured about 3 yrs back . Everything was running smoothly . Not a single hick up , No blue screen , No error messages .
Then my printer ( Epson TX111 ) died and I replaced it with a Canon PIXIMA G2010 . This was a week ago . My PC hanged twice since then.
I am suspecting maybe something went bad in the Windows Registry .
Is there any tools / softwares to check and repair the Windows Registry ? Please do suggest free ones .
Or is it my HDD going bad ?

Thanks

So the issue has ONLY occurred since changing the printer?
It could be a driver issue if anything.

Can you confirm if the issue still occurs in safe mode?

And no there are no useful registry checking tools or better yet, no registry repair tools outside of a windows repair.

Oh! I forgot to mention, I did a HDD Surface scan ( Extended Scan ) with WD's Data Lifeline Utility .
The test results showed some bad sectors on my HDD .
Could bad sectors be the cause of this problem ?

Undoubtedly, this is important information.
You need to replace the HDD first.

Can't guarantee that is exactly what is causing your slow downs, but it very well could be, and if it has bad sectors and is failing WD tests, it needs to be backed up, and replaced.
