Its the kind of crash where the game freezes but the music continues to loop for about 5-10 seconds and then i get a loud BRRRRRRRRRRRrbrbbrbrrrr from the speaker and im required to hard restart the PC. Im pretty sure its a CPU based crash, due to the sound and the fact that i also have to restart the PC.

The following games are causing my PC to crash; Skyrim, Crysis 2 and 3, BFBC2, Dead space 3. Yet games like BF3, Far Cry 3, The witcher 2, sleeping dogs and alot more dont crash.

Usually i can play atleast 30 mins on most of the games before the crash, BFBC2 usually an hour+ but occasionally it can be with minutes. Yes my system is overclocked.

My PC;
Windows 7 Ult 64 bit
asrock 970 extreme 3
corsair 600 cx builder series
phenom 965 BE 4ghz
msi tf3 6950 2gb 910/1375
4gb ddr3 1333 kingston
hyper 212 evo
1tb barracuda
casecom 6988 with 3 120mm fans

Temps arent a problem, my CPU sits at 29-32c idle and the highest ive ever seen it go was 54c but that was on prime95. On games the highest ive seen it was 48c. Same with the GPU temps are good, 33-37c idle and the highest ive ever seen it was 82c but that was a while ago and since then ive redone the thermal compound and now i never see it pass 75c.

My CPU is overclocked using only the multiplier; 200FSBx20 and its on 1.4875v.
My GPU is on stock voltage and i got it to 910/1375.
CPU throttling is off, CnQ is off and LLC is also off. For some reason when its on i cant play for more than 5 minutes on any of the games.
I recently overclocked the CPU-NB to 2600 which wasnt very stable so i kept it at 2400/1.28v which seemed stable but then i started getting crashes again so i put it back to default, but that still didnt fix it.

Hmm... I don't have a solution, because I came looking for an answer... I have the same motherboard, and the same graphics card. My CPU is the FX-8120, and it was overclocked to 4.0 GHz. It was weird, the same thing was happening. Some games were fine, but Skyrim for example would crash in the exact same way after 20-30 minutes. I was sure it was the overclock, and so I went back to 3.1 GHz, and I didn't see any more crashes. But seeing as we have some similar hardware, it leads me to believe maybe the motherboard also had something to do with it, or it was just a coincidence? But goinf back to default helped me, unlike you. My 6950 is still oc'ed to 900/1350, and its fine and not causing any kinds of problems. Sorry I couldn't help, but yeah I'd like to get to the bottom of this, because I want to overclock again, I got a decent performance increase (minus the crashing of course lol).
