I am having a freezing issue with my pc, and not just because its cold outside.
I am an indie game developer, gamer, and youtuber.
About 4 months ago i started noticing when i was editing a video in Wondershare Filmora,
my pc would freeze when rendering the video. I thought maybe it was too intensive for my rig
and wrote it off as nothing. It was only happening when i would first try to render the video, so restart the pc after it would freeze up and everything worked fine again. And it wouldn't happen all the time. Computers mess up, and have their quirks. I thought maybe a freeze up every now and then might be my pc's quirk.

Well here in the last 2 weeks or so it has become more frequent. Now its not just when I am rendering a video. I use Unreal Engine 4 for game design, and every time. It never fails. Five minutes into working in the engine it freezes. Cant move the mouse, no control alt delete. Nothing. So i restart and try again. Same thing.

Well i just bought 2 refurbished HDD from newegg. The freezing seemed more frequent after i put them in.
So i ripped those out and went back to my original setup. It still freezes.

I started combing through the web and looking for solutions. .

Next I ripped out my PSU and had it tested. Came up perfectly fine.
Then a guy at the Computer shop i went to said try MEMtest.
Ran the program it came back with 1 error. That was enough for me.
So i ripped out a ram stick and ran it. Still froze. Ripped out the other stick and replaced it with the first one i had removed.. Still froze. Haven't run MEMtest again, because either its both sticks with one error or i just had simple error which happens from time to time.. Or that's what the internet says. With what my results yielded i have to agree.

Next I said screw it. Maybe its a registry error or a .dll error which i have no idea how to fix. So i did a complete system restore. The only files still on my pc that were on it before are.. My Unreal Engine and Video Editing files. The only real way i can test whether its going to crash is with those programs though. It has only frozen while gaming once, that i can remember. The consistency in Freezes happens when I am using something more intense than games, but it IS with more than one type of program, which is why I believe it might be a hardware issue. Anyways,

Next i started stress testing it with HeavyLoad, Furmark and keeping track of my temps with GPU-Z and Gigabyte Easy Tune 6. No problems in the temp dept.
BUT with heavy load i did notice that when i tested the CPU while using the write to temp file, and enable tree size it started messing up. Heavy load and Easy Tune stopped responding intermittently. Thought that was noteworthy.

Next I read online that somebody's RealTek sound driver was conflicting with their Nvidia sound driver because one was out of date.. So i updated the drivers. Still freezes up when I'm in Unreal. Hell I updated all my drivers, just to be sure. Even though it was a fresh install of windows. Still freezing up.

I stopped trying with the video editing software because I got faster results of freezing with Unreal.

So just to recap:
Temp: ()
(CPU: Fine. 46c Max. 25c Idle.)
(GPU: Fine. 76c Max. 30c Idle.)
(System: Fine. 44c Max. 29c Idle.)
RAM: Checked. 1 error. Both used individually.
GPU: Checked. Stress Test yielded fine results. No bugs, glitches or problems.
PSU: Checked. Running spot on where it should be.
HDD: Checked with Western Digital Data Lifeguard. No issues.

I hope this helps somebody narrow down what it is.
This has put my work in Unreal to an absolute standstill.

Thanks,
Austin

EDIT: New Development

So i found this after posting my question and tried it out and it halfway worked. Wifi Adapter Driver Causing Freeze
I disconnected my computer from the internet and it stopped freezing.
So went and uninstalled all of my wireless and bluetooth drivers and installed just my network adapter drivers. And for a minute i thought it was fixed. I got up this morning and began working in Unreal and it froze again. Confirming that this was a driver issue I started googling a solution. Unfortunately i spent $16 on a program called 'Driver Talent' that i thought would update my drivers and stop my computer from freezing. It didn't.
So i turned on my computers verifier and restarted my computer following the steps of ZigZag on the microsoft forum. Low and Behold my pc started bluescreening.
It read:

Stop Code: Driver Verifier Detected Violation
What Failed: mvxxmm.sys

Now this error code prevents my computer from booting up. Im not sure, but i do believe it directly correlates to my freeze issue. I booted up in safe mode and started doing more research and hit a brick wall. If anyone can find a solution it would be much appreciated.
I turned off verifier for the time being so i can access my regular files and drivers and replicated the freeze problem again. Disconnected from the internet and no issues. So I'm still stuck here.

Edit: More interesting things

I turned off my internet connection and it works just fine.
So i decided i would hardline my rig. No wireless connection to mess things up.
Didnt work Still freezing.
So i pulled my wireless card out all together. Surely this will help.
Nope. Still freezing. Im completely out of ideas. There doesn't seem to be a way to make this work without figuring out what exactly is going on with my driver. If you missed it throughout the jumbled mess that is this post.
I can cause a bluescreen error that tells me that the problem is:
mvxxmm.sys file and i have no idea how to correct it.

Solution
I'd start saving for new CPU - MoBo - RAM combo though.
E.g Skylake/ Kaby Lake K-series CPU - Z170/Z270 chipset MoBo - DDR4 RAM.
Or Ryzen CPU - AM4 socket MoBo - DDR4 RAM.

You can, however switch out your MoBo but if the CPU is the one that is dying then it would be waste of money. Unless you can get new MoBo with relatively low price and you're good wasting that money when the CPU is the culprit.
Further reading about mvxxmm.sys BSoD,
link: http://www.solvusoft.com/en/files/bsod-blue-screen-error/sys/windows/passcape-software/reset-windows-password/mvxxmm-sys/

When you reach to a part of fixing the mvxxmm.sys error then Step 8 sounds promising. But when all above fails (Step 1 to 9) then Step 10 is the last chance to fix software issues.

Definitely tried step 1-10, multiple times. But it was a good article.

Im about to reset my pc again. I found a temporary fix, but honestly Im not sure how good it is for my system. I changed the voltage on my ram by .25 and it has run fine the last 12 hrs. Praying that it's not my mobo, not with ryzen right around the corner.

If it's not the software issue then it has to be hardware issue. My best guess would be that over time time and due to the heavy usage, components have been degraded to a point where you'll get issues (freezes, BSoD, errors etc). This is common with all things, the more and longer you use them, the less reliable they become until to the point when they fail completely.

It's hard to say which component causes the errors and is dying. My best guess would be CPU.

Well that really sucks. CPU's are expensive. Would you try out the motherboard, or should i just start saving for a new CPU?
