My PC is no longer visible on the network. I've watched videos and they all say the same thing, doesn't help.

2 weeks ago, my windows 10 laptop was able to view my other desktop PC (windows 7) under 'network' in windows file explorer. To access my desktop for file sharing, I double clicked on it in my laptop and put in my pc's password to gain access to my files. (Well I think that is just a matter of having 'password protected sharing' turned on.)

Now, under network on my laptop, there is nothing there. I haven't changed any settings since then. I also just built a new desktop and with my new desktop, under network in file explorer I can view my old desktop, I clicked on it and logged in but nothing is visible, except for a public folder which has inside, public documents, downloads, music etc. But those are all empty. It's supposed to show a folder named 'users', then my 'user name' etc.

I've watched a bunch of videos on youtube and read some articles and forums and they all say the same thing "go to network sharing center, advanced options, private network, enable network discovery and file and printer sharing. I've double checked that on all 3 of my devices.

On my windows 7 device I know you can click on folders, and give access by sharing with homegroup or specific people. I can't select homegroup because windows has removed it from version 1803. And when I click 'specific people' none of those other computers are there in the list even though they are plugged into the router with ethernet or connected by wifi. So I google "i can't view my devices in the network", and they just tell me the same thing. Enable network discovery, file and printer sharing. It's enabled!

I never went through this before. I was always able to view my old pc with my new laptop.

I had each pc ping each other. It worked when network discovery was turned on...
When I log into my router, I can see all the devices.
Later, i saw my old pc on my laptop and when I clicked on it, it tried to connect and 30 seconds later it gave an error message,

"Network error
Windows Cannot access \\ *****PC

Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose.

Error code: 0x80070035

I also clicked share Users>(my user name folder) with everyone. And I still can't view it with my other devices.
