Hello,
My PC which I recently upgraded with a new CPU (FX 8370E) and GPU (HD 7970) But, I plugged in my HDMI cable into my GPU (my motherboard does not have HDMI so yes it is in correctly) and I noticed a drop in quality from my previous GPU (a 750 ti) so I checked my resolution and it was 1920 by 1080 but instead of using HDMI it was using VGA, I then checked CPU-Z to make sure my GPU was being identified, which it was but some parts were left grey, it only showed me the name of my GPU and nothing else, I then thought installing new AMD drivers will fix it, the Auto detect identified my GPU and tried to update the drivers but it failed to install graphics drivers. I then checked my device manager and there was no sign of my GPU there, I then checked CPU HWMONITOR no sign of it there either, but CPU Z and the auto detect does show it? But one does not show details and the other does not update. So, I checked my BIOS to see if my GPU is enabled but there is no PCIE options or GPU options there for some reason. The GPU is working, the fans are spinning but it is not using it. Also since it is using VGA instead of HDMI that means I can't get sound through my TV. Please help me

Solution
you should try Nvidia's and AMD's "cleaner" applications that wipe the previous drivers & settings from your system. if that doesn't work, sometimes the easiest way to solve this type of issue is to refresh Windows.

if the only cable running is the HDMI then it is definitely using your GPU or you'd have no display at all. there is just an issue within Windows pertaining to it & it's drivers.

Nvidia's you'll have to find on your own but a link to AMD's:
