My pc is on but there is no display

When i start my pc there is no display on the monitor. Also the keyboard doesnt show any response (When i click cap locks there should be light ect).I noticed the red light on the front of my pc just shows when i start my pc and stops(That light is on always when my pc is on). I dont think it is a problem with my monitor. I made sure the cables werent lose.
I have some times got through this problem with restarting and holding the power button from 5-10 sec then again starting my pc

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I am not sure if this is the right place to place this issue, sorry if it isn't
