My PC Isn't Performing How it Should be.

My specs:
FX-6300 at 3.5ghz
GTX 1050 Ti, not overclocked.
8gb ram
500w power supply.

My pc just isnt running as fast as I have seen it run for other people in the community.
For example, CS:GO only runs at 80-100 fps when it should run well over 100 and closer to 200.
Black Ops III runs at 40-50 fps on high settings when it should run well over 70.
My cpu is just under 80 degrees celsius under full load. My memory usage seems to be normal, and my graphics card is quiet and barely goes over 60 degrees celsius.

Install HWiNFO and run it in sensors only mode, take screenshots of the full report, and upload the images to Tinypic.com, postimag.com, etc., and post the image or links here. The report should include how the CPU is performing, in clock speed, temperature and voltage, as well as temps and voltages on the GPU, mobo, etc. It's usually the CPU clock speed running much lower than the normal clock speed needed to run games. Windows Power saving options being set on the Power Saver Plan can be the cause, as well as the BIOS power saving settings that may throttle down the CPU, and though these settings allow the clock speed to increase as neede they don't always adjust as expected, then you have to change the BIOS settings from Auto to user settings to normal clock not overclocked.

The CPU temps seem higher than normal... CPU-World.com has the maximum operating temperature for the FX-6300 at 70.5 ºC... the HWiNFo reports says it's running from 76 to 78ºC. And the CPU (Tcl) or Temperature control which is the temperature at which the cooler fan should increase speed, is set to high. This may be why Core #0 (Cores 1 and 2) runs at 1406 Mhz when idle or minimum while other cores only come down around 300Mhz.

so what do you recommend me to do? I could try taking off and reapplying the thermal paste on the CPU. Any other suggestions?

I have a similar setup to yours and I had similar issues aswell.
Could you tell us what motherboard are you using? What's the CPU cooler that you're using?
My FX-4300 barely goes above 40C on CS:GO with a DeepCool Ice Edge Mini FS V2 cooler that costs around 10 bucks.
It's either your CPU cooler or the motherboard's VRM that's heating up in my opinion.

My FX-4300 barely goes above 40C on CS:GO with a DeepCool Ice Edge Mini FS V2 cooler that costs around 10 bucks.
It's either your CPU cooler or the motherboard's VRM that's heating up in my opinion.

My motherboard: Gigabyte AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gbps USB 3.0 ATX AM3+
Im using the stock cooler that came with the FX-6300.

The stock cooler obviously won't do the trick, I was running my FX-4300 on 80C with the stock cooler and it was throttling down to 1.4Ghz like hell - making games unplayable and FPS drops very frequent.

After getting an aftermarket cooler, everything was fine, now it runs well below 50-60C at full load.
If you're on a tight budget like me - get a DeepCool Ice Edge Mini FS V2 CPU cooler for around 10$ (2 heat pipes).
If you'd like to have a CPU cooler that's really worth it and will make sure your CPU never overheats and throttles again - go for the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo which is around 30-35$ (4 heat pipes).

Your FX CPU should never exceed 60C at full load, otherwise it throttles down in order to cool itself and prevent damage.

Thank you. I ordered thermal paste a few days ago and it should be delivered tomorrow, so I'll try that as well with the stock cooler and see if it helps. Otherwise ill order a new cooler. Thanks for the help, ill try to remember to report back to you on how it goes.

Glad we could help, however, FX processors are hot and it'll surely need an aftermarket cooler even with a quality thermal paste.
It's always good to spend a few more bucks for peace of mind, reply whenever you run some test to let us know how it goes.

The CPU (Tcl) or Fan Temperature control switch can be made to turn on and increase fan speed at a lower CPU temperature by disabling the BIOS power saving settings.. "Cool & Quiet", "AMD C1E", etc. And if the BIOS has a separate fan speed control setting use that.

In Windows you can set the High Performance plan in Control Panel > Power Options.. these settings should keep the CPU fan running full blast keeping the CPU cooler... but cancel Sleep Mode so in case you use it, better set Power Options in the Balanced Plan.

Do this at least till you get a better CPU cooler or while waiting for one to arrive.

I tried reapplying the thermal paste, but now idle temperatures are even higher. About 70 degrees celsius as im typing this.

You better avoid using your PC and wasting thermal paste until you have your new cooler.
I doubt anything will be damaged even if you use it as it is right now (for a short period of time), but it makes the PC practically unusable so get a new cooler ASAP!

The CPU cooler fan is increasing speed very late.. [strike]get it running earlier or full blast... it may bring the CPU temp down. At least while you wait for the efficient cooler to arrive.[/strike]

Scrap that.... according to the screenshot, the Chassis fan which I think is the CPU fan, was running around 4000 RPMs so guess it's already at max rpms. But the (Tcl) or Fan Temperature control switch is acting very late due to some BIOS setting. So, you'd need to take HWiNFO screenshots with the computer cool and later when warm to see if there's any difference in CPU fan speed.

Of course if you can restrain from using the computer this would be unnecessary.
