Question My pc keeps crashing and restarting on boot, how do I fix this?

I received a pc with very good specs from my friend, the only problem is whenever I try to boot it, it automatically repairs but then crashes and restarts. I can go to the BIOS and it won’t crash there, but I can’t get to windows. I’ve even tried reinstalling windows but it doesn’t work. Sometimes it does go to the blue screen, and I get the code, which is BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

What Windows is this? Windows 7 installation? That BSOD is probably caused by a corrupted Windows/System hive. Could be missing critical registry entries because of manual editing by user or if a program corrupted entries.

See if you can boot into Safe Mode and if there's a Restore Point, restore the Windows to that.

If that doesn't work you'd probably need to repair/reset the installation with proper repair disk, same versions and same bit version (32 / 64 bit).

If not resolved you'd probably have to do a clean installation of Windows.

I was able to get to see if I could get to a restore point, but there was none to go to.
