Hi everyone,

Recently I changed few components from my PC , I changed a 8-10 year old CPU, MotherBoard and Ram into AMD Ryzen 5 3600, the mobo is Prime A320M-k and the RAM is DDR4 2x8gb 3200MHz Vengance LPX.

So after a month of usage with a good performance suddenly the compute restarted while I was playing LoL, then I went to AC Valhalla and it died at few seconds I started to play.

I have been checking on internet and everything is "blaming" the PSU.

My PSU is the OG component that is still in the computer (besides the box) it has 8 to 9 years old and is a Corsair 700GS (with 700W).

So I checked if maybe my new components are demanding more than 700W and I calculated it with a website: https://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/

It shows that my components barely demands 360W.

Should I change the PSU?
I know my PSU has 700W but is 8-9 years old so I believe it won't work effectively anymore.

If there is an expert, I would like to ask why should I buy a PSU with 650W if it has less W and still I know that the performance will be better.

I also saw a guy in internet that has had issues with Ryzen 3400g and the DDR4 3200 Vengance, but I still think is the PSU

Thank you for your time guys,

Hi, thx for your participation in my hardware issue,

I couldn't w8 anymore and I bought the Seasonic Core GC 500 500W 80 Plus Gold for 52.99€, It has to arrive this Wednesday so I am actually checking if that PSU is the best in my case.
This is a fine choice, a little more watts wouldn't have hurt, but it should be fine.

Also, as I understood the Certificate is only about how many % of the total amount of Watts it can provide, right? So If I take a Bronze with a 80% Certified with 650W there are actually more Watts that if I take a Gold with 88% over 500W, and yet the Gold is like 40€ more expensive than Bronzes with less W.
No the certificate (bronze/silver etc.) is about how much watts the psu pulls out...
What's your gpu?

700GS is old and has a dated internal design.

I have bad experiences with Corsair LPX M2B/M2C/M2D/M2E3200C16 in combination with Ryzen. M2Z3200C16 runs much better.
Hey,

Thank you for answering,

My GPU is a Radeon RX 580,

Do you mean I should try that guys solution? Because he is changing frequencies at the BIOS

I'll be w8 for your anser,

Likely your problem. Would change that first. If you want recommendations give a budget and when out of US country you buy from and we could look for something decent.

I am hesitating between if I would rather take a 650W with Bronze Certificate than a 500W with Gold Certificate Plus, the bronze are the cheapest one so I can get more W but the Gold Certificate are making them quite more expensive which means that is better and since I will never reach 500W in the following years even If I would change next year the GPU.

I am really sorry if I mess you with my writing, as you can see I am not native english speaker.

Thanks again for your help.

No the certificate (bronze/silver etc.) is about how much watts the psu pulls out of the wall to get what it really uses. So if the pc with a gold psu like yours uses the full 500watt with about 90% efficiency it pulls about 550watt from the wall. A 650watt white (i assume since only 80% efficient) system would when pulling 650watts at 80% pull about 780watts from the wall. The numbers aren't entirely accurate, but you get the point.

Then I am glad I chose the the right one,

I will keep you update if it is fixed with the PSU

Thank you so much for your help
