Hi guys.

I bought a new gtx 960 2gb . my specs are here

Pro : i5 6600k
Mobo : gigabyte z170 d3h
Ram : 8gb ( adding one more tomorrow) so 16
GPU: Asus 960gtx
PSU : cooler master thunder 450
HDD : WD 1tb black
Cooler : deep cool with two fans, its good at keeping the temp low.

And windows 10.

The story,

I had the same GPU with my old PC which got shorted cos of bad wiring and fried every component. But my PC was old running am i3 and I got my GPU replaced.
I assembled a new PC with the above config with a benq ew2440 and I simply love my pc.I was using it for a month without GPU and it was great. Snapy PC. Yesterday I received a new GPU as replacement. I installed it. First it didn't work , I had to disable onboard GPU on that board. Then it worked and I installed bf4 to test it out (I don't play much games. I use it mainly for designing purpose. Iam an artist). It restarted when the level was loading. I tried again and it worked. I closed it and tested farcry4. Again, it restarts when the game is opening. I downloaded several GPU stress apps, but everyone of them makes the PC restarts when opening. It just refuse to work. Iam having a lot of projects and iam trying to figure out how to make it work or iam in trouble. I somewet read PSU can make problems like this but its a new one, just a month old. (Cm thunder 450). Can anybody help me out asap?? Money is not a problem for me but reliability is. Everything is brand new except the HDD which is two years old.

Thanks in advance :)

Cooler Master PSU's aren't the best for reliability. They're more for just basic home use. On top of that, you have an i5 and a mid-range gaming GPU. It sounds like the power supply is cutting out because it's under too big a load.

According to This page, a 400W should be enough, but like i said, CM PSU's aren't too reliable.

First thing I'd recommend would be swap that CM Thunder with an Antec Earthwatts.
http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Earthwatts-Bronze-Power-Supply/dp/B007DBJ4P6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464099924&sr=8-1&keywords=antec+500w
This 550w has a lot more power on the 12V rail, which is used for your graphics card. Plus, Antec PSU's are built to last a long time.

Thanx for your reply, I tested it with another cooler master from.one of my friends. It is 550w but a little old. ( RS - 550 - pcar - e3)

Still the problem persists. System. Shutdowns and restarts when opening any benchmark or stress test software and running games. Farcry, instant crash. Bf4 can be played for couple of minutes sometimes.. Like 5 -6 . and then it does the flip.

My CPU fan is really big. It's deep cool frostwin with two 200mm or 220mm fans With a huge heatsink. Apart from that I have three case fans with led. The motherboard has integrated sound card and dual PCI slot. May be 550w isn't enough ???

The GPU temp idle is 35-38
On light load it will get to 40-45

But after the crash, I checked the backside with my hand and it was a bit hot.

CPU stays under 35 on medium load. The outside temperature is 35 so it is fine I guess.

Please help me out here.. I don't know what to do next.

Go here and download HWMonitor from CPU-ID
http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/hwmonitor_1.28.zip
It'll monitor temps and voltages throughout the system. Take some screenshots of the sensors while idle. Then I suggest either running the games in windowed, or putting HWMonitor on a secondary screen if you have one, just so you can look at temps before a potential crash. I still think it could be a PSU problem, so if you could get an open box or used deal that you can return if it doesn't work that'd be ideal.
